Master Bathroom Remodel

About 5 years ago I remodeled my Master Bathroom. It was an exciting experience! 

I was basically practicing on my own house. 

I had old builder grade features and not much storage space. I removed the garden tub and enlarged the shower. The entire bathroom was gutted, redesigned and everything was replaced. I added some furniture and a chandelier. Really! 

Just for fun, I uploaded photos to HGTV's Rate My Space and was thrilled when it quickly became one of the most viewed bathrooms and named one of the top ten most relevant remodels for 42 weeks running!

Bathroom Remodels are one of the smartest investments you can make in your home! Both for you to enjoy while you live there and for excellent increased resale value! 

Clients have kept me busy with bathroom updates and remodels lately and here are some principles to keep in mind when considering doing yours!

Many homes in Central Florida have the original builder grade cabinetry, laminate countertops, white painted metal sink, standard mirror and inexpensive light fixtures. 

An update and remodel was in order with this one! 

Large Master Bath

Since the inside of the cabinetry was in good condition, and to keep the costs down, I had the solid wood cabinets professionally painted in an espresso shade. It's a 3 step process and worth the time. Since this bathroom and two sets of cabinets I added another sink, removed and replaced the mirror, added granite countertops and new lighting. 

The old shower had a diagonal door. It was small. To maximize the space (and create some privacy for two people to share the room) I added a wall between the shower and toilet. This also gave me the easy addition of shelving above the toilet which I love to do in a bathroom. You can never have enough storage space and display space in a  bathroom!  Glass doors are so beautiful, modern and easy to clean, so that was an obvious choice! New grey subway tile flooring was added and two shades of grey paint to jazz up the walls. 
 The tub in this bath was in good condition so I left it as is. Inside the shower I chose a black, white and grey mosaic tile for a border and inset for convenience of shampoos, etc. 
 

  


With some design planning, research, shopping and smart choices, the results are amazing! 

          Jack and Jill Bath with Pool Door

That was the case with this newly remodeled jack and jill bath with a pool door! An amazing outcome ! The rich plum focal point wall and soft grey and white tiles and fixtures make for a dramatic look!

 In this bathroom I custom designed the tile backsplash for a one-of-a-kind creation.

This piece of granite was a rare find and a remnant which was a good deal. I love the outcome!

Tip: Chrome fixtures and knobs are a must in bathrooms whereas brushed nickel work best in kitchens. Bronze or darker fixtures can go either in bathrooms or kitchen.
